Summary of Work:
The Practical Nursing Program operates under the oversight of the Dean of Academics. Nursing faculty report to the Director of the Division of Nursing. The Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible for providing instruction, guidance, and supervision during students' clinical learning experiences, as well as assisting faculty with laboratory instruction and skill development for students enrolled in the Practical Nursing Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Director of the Division of Nursing and faculty to maintain ND State accreditation for the nursing program.
2. In collaboration with the Director of the Division of Nursing and faculty assist with the implementation and evaluation of the practical nursing curriculum and program following a written plan and the Sitting Bull College assessment plan.
3. Provide feedback on student policies.
4. Assist course leads with the nursing laboratory experiences.
5. Evaluate student performance and participate in student assessment activities by providing timely feedback and documentation to course leads to support student evaluations and overall academic progress.
6. Maintain various reports such as attendance.
7. Provide feedback regarding students' clinical learning experiences and assist in monitoring preceptorship experiences for each student enrolled in the program. Responsibilities include:
a. Providing feedback on the achievement of clinical and preceptorship objectives;
b. Maintaining open communication with preceptors, clinical site personnel, and students;
c. Verifying completion of required clinical and preceptorship hours; and
d. Evaluating the effectiveness of preceptorship placements and the quality of student learning experiences.
8. Assist with maintaining an environment conducive to the teaching and learning process.
9. Evaluate supervision effectiveness.
10. Participate in activities that facilitate maintaining the clinical instructor’s own nursing competence and professional expertise in the area of teaching responsibility.
11. Attend all scheduled college functions and meetings as required.
12. Serve on college committees as appointed.
13. Participate in other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
14. Promote and participate in student and community activities. (i.e. clubs, AIHEC, cultural events)
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
2. Hold an unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Dakota or South Dakota with a Nurse Licensure Compact meeting ND Board of Nursing Requirements.
3. Must be eligible for State Vocational Education certification.
4. Minimum of two years of experience in nursing practice.
5. Have knowledge and experience working with federal and tribal programs.
