Are you passionate about educational opportunities and engaging young minds? As a College and Career Readiness Mentor, you will serve as a trusted guide, advocate, and role model for high school students across the Flathead Reservation. You will support students in planning for their future by opening doors to postsecondary opportunities, encouraging experiential learning, and helping youth explore their interests and talents.
Education and career readiness are powerful vehicles for student success and personal fulfillment. In this part-time role, you will work directly within one or more local schools—Arlee, Charlo, Hot Springs, Polson, Ronan, St. Ignatius, and Two Eagle River—to mentor youth, foster academic growth, and broaden horizons through hands-on, real-world experiences.
Guide & Empower: Provide personalized, one-on-one mentorship to help students navigate high school, explore career pathways, and pursue higher education.
Foster Academic Excellence: Deliver targeted academic support, assist with college and scholarship applications, and guide students through work-based learning opportunities.
Lead Experiential Learning: Design and lead engaging activities, and immersive overnight field trips during the school year and summer to expand students' perspectives.
Bridge School & Community: Collaborate closely with educators, families, and community partners to build a supportive network around every student.
Complete grant compliance forms and reports as they relate to services and activity completion.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Academic expertise in writing and other college preparatory courses with the ability to effectively partner with academic experts as needed.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Willing and able to plan and lead overnight academic and work-based field experiences during the academic year and summer.
Background check (fingerprinting) and pre-employment drug screening are required to ensure student safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
An Associate degree paired with a passion for student success and community collaboration.
One year of experience leading youth programs, academic mentoring, or college/career prep initiatives preferred.
Familiarity with postsecondary admissions and financial aid processes, and career pathway navigation.
