Are you passionate about empowering students and making a difference in a community-focused educational environment? Tohono O’odham Community College is looking for a dedicated Student Support Specialist I to join our Student Services division. This is more than just an office job—it is an opportunity to be a cornerstone of student success by providing essential guidance from admission to graduation.

Hourly Rate Range: $17.00 -$19.83 

What You Will Do:

As a Student Support Specialist I, you will be the "go-to" resource for our students, helping them navigate their academic journey. You will:

  • Be the first point of contact, directing incoming and returning students toward the services they need to thrive.
  • Help students plan their futures by assisting with class registration and schedule planning tailored to their goals.
  • Facilitate the credit transfer process, ensuring students get the credit they deserve for their hard work.
  • Actively participate in efforts to keep students engaged and on track to finish their programs.
  • Champion the T-So:son (Our Core Values), which emphasize deep respect, well-being, and working together for the community..

What You Will Bring:

We are looking for a collaborator who combines technical skill with a heart for service:

  • A solid grasp of academic programs, financial aid, and vital privacy laws like FERPA.
  • Proficiency in Student Information Systems (SIS) and modern office tools like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace.
  • The ability to look at data and find ways to make our programs even better for our students.
  • A talent for communicating with diverse groups and building strong, confidential professional relationships

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in education, business, or a closely related field.
  • Two to three years of experience in enrollment, office support, or clerical work.
  • A valid state Driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • The ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
  • A deep understanding of the history and contemporary issues facing Native people.

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Enjoy a consistent work-life balance with typical hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening, weekend, or overtime shifts may be required to support special events.
  • Work in a typical office environment focused on administrative excellence.
  • Primarily sedentary work involving sitting, typing, and engaging in frequent, meaningful conversations with students and staff
