Are you a dedicated and detail-oriented individual who takes pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment? Tohono O'odham Community College (TOCC) is seeking a Facilities Technician I to join our team. This full-time, non-exempt position is essential for the day-to-day upkeep of all our buildings and grounds.

Hiring Rate Range: $17.00 - $20.00

What You'll Do

As our Facilities Technician I, you'll be responsible for a variety of tasks that keep our campus looking its best, including:

  • Ensure all college buildings and grounds are clean and well-maintained. This includes duties like mopping, dusting, sweeping, raking, and trash pickup.
  • Secure all doors and gates after business hours to ensure the safety of our campus.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and monitor supplies and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, drinking fountains, and sinks.
  • Set up chairs and tables for various college functions.
  • Maintain the campus landscape by sweeping sidewalks, chopping weeds, and raking.

Required Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • A valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the history and contemporary issues facing Native people.

Work Environment, Schedule & Physical Activity

  • This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Occasional evening, weekend, and overtime shifts may be required.
  • The role involves activities such as bending, pulling, pushing, and lifting objects. (not the complete list)
  • The position is classified as "Medium work," which requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing more than 50 pounds occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. The employee must also be able to carry equipment and tools weighing 10 pounds, such as mops, brooms, and trash containers.
  • The work occurs both indoors and outdoors. The worker is also subject to extreme heat, with temperatures potentially exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit for more than an hour.
