Summary of Responsibilities: The incumbent will lead and teach on cultural concerns and issues facing Indigenous Peoples as they relate to museums, collections, exhibitions, and curatorial practices, with particular attention to repatriation and Native self-representation. The role will be carried out in alignment with the mission, vision, and core values of the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA), which seeks to foster an inclusive and respectful work environment that advances Indigenous perspectives and voices.
Essential Position Functions:
· Provide college-level instruction in Museum Studies courses across introductory, intermediate, and advanced levels, within the context of a unique curriculum which requires adherence to the distinctive art and object concerns of Indigenous communities
