The University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) is an undergraduate-focused residential public liberal arts college serving 1700 students. One of five University of Minnesota campuses, UMM is 160 miles west of Minneapolis in the rural community of Morris. UMM is consistently highly ranked by U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, Fiske Guide to Colleges, Princeton Review, Kiplinger’s, and Washington Monthly. The student body is talented, engaged, and one of the most diverse in Minnesota.
Minnesota is home to 11 tribal nations: 7 Anishinaabe reservations and 4 Dakota communities. The campus is situated on original Dakota and Anishinaabe homelands. 300+ Native American students comprise over 20% of UMM students. Most Native students are Anishinaabe (50%) and Dakota/Lakota/ Nakota (25%) citizens and descendants. Over 65 Native American tribes are represented on campus. UMM offers a tuition waiver tied to campus history as an American Indian Boarding School (1887 – 1910).
