UC San Diego Capital Project Analyst Filing Deadline: Tue 3/31/2020 Salary Range: $25.67 - $39.56 / Hourly Under general supervision of the HDH Senior Superintendent for New Construction will provide key facilities project planning and analytical support for coordinating HDH's new construction program with UCSD Capital Program Management staff (CPM), design professionals (architects, engineers, etc.), contractors, inspectors, and others associated with the projects; monitoring project progress and quality; resolving problems that arise in the project; working with UCSD officials to ensure compliance with the Detailed Project Program (DPP) and University specifications; ensuring projects meet HDH requirements. Participate in planning, program development, all details of construction project management and oversight of HDH facilities as they pertain to new capital projects. Provide Sr. Superintendent with analyses and assistance in coordinating all warranty, as-built collection and storage, and operations and maintenance requirements for all newly accepted HDH structures, grounds, and associated systems. Assist in the formulation of solutions for facility problems, develop construction projects where necessary and managing those contracted projects through completion and payment. Develop long range maintenance/repair project plans and assist in establishing annual budgets for those plans. Provide technical and general supervision over skilled, semi-skilled, and specialized staff in accomplishing their daily work. Participates in division's budget development and management, short and long term strategic planning and other high level projects as assigned by the Director of HDH's Property Operations and Planning Division. Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with approximately 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees and an annual operating budget of greater than $189 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 15,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff and their families in over 400 buildings covering approximately 6 million sq. ft. HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan which will add 5000 new beds and almost double our square footage by 2021. Currently, HDH houses 38% of UCSD’s enrolled students with a goal of housing 50% in the near future. QUALIFICATIONS • Proven knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes. Understanding as demonstrated through experience of Uniform Building Codes, California Building Codes, International Code Council, fire codes, life/safety codes and regulations, and ability to follow University standards concerning space, access, utilities, fire, safety, etc. Familiarity with ADA and Title 24 requirements. • In-depth knowledge of construction industry terminology and methodology. • Proven ability to view and understand architectural plans. • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting blueprints, construction or modification specifications, including contracts, plans, specifications; and work off of schematic designs. • Proven skills to develop project scope and drawings. Hands on experience and knowledge of project administration and project cost control/management. Demonstrated ability to illustrate, read, and interpret drawings, diagrams, blueprints and construction documents. • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software. Knowledge of software such as MS Office applications, MS Project, Excel, Outlook, Computer Aided Design (CAD) and AutoCAD, Photoshop, Revit Architecture, Sketch-Up, Adobe Suite, Prolog, Primavera, Centric Projects, Bluebeam, Timberline and/or other related software. • Ability to collaborate and communicate with technical and non-technical staff with respect to the development and refinement of technical solutions. • Skill to analyze assignments, process workflows and projects, gather data and information, determine and evaluate solutions or alternatives and provide recommendations. • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and maintain compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget. • Proven ability to independently research special studies/projects, compile complex data and reports and/or draft formal documentation. Skill at writing business letters, preparing reports, and providing in-depth analysis. • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective negotiation skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a variety of formats with diverse individuals and groups using tact, diplomacy and flexibility. • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Detail oriented to accurately proof contracts and other documents. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, develop, analyze and/or revise procedures, meet deadlines, and work in an environment of heavy pressures and changing priorities.
