University of North Dakota SMHS - Graduate Medical Education

The primary purpose of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences is to educate physicians and other health professionals and to enhance the quality of life in North Dakota. The primary purpose of the PBRN is to conduct and fund multi-institutional human studies that will benefit the people of North Dakota.

The main functions and mission of our research network fall into three categories:

1.       Improve patient care by facilitating research and coordinating research in a planned clinical research unit

2.       Managing the network of research protocols across the AICORN and its network of clinical research units, including helping to design multi-institutional research protocols, helping to write protocols for the IRB and FDA, negotiating affiliation agreements and managing budgets for such studies, monitoring patient entry into such protocols, monitoring compliance
