Boston University a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU) since 2012, is among the leading private research and teaching institutions in the world, with two primary campuses in the heart of Boston, programs around the globe, and a rich tradition dedicated to inclusion and social justice. Established in 1839, and chartered in 1869, the University today enrolls nearly 34,000 students, and employs nearly 4,000 faculty and 6,500 staff across 17 schools and colleges, and numerous administrative departments.
