Job Description

Position Title: Maintenance Groundskeeper II or I

Department: Facilities

Reports Directly To: Maintenance Groundskeeper & Driver/Service Technician Supervisor

Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: Per Salary Scale

 

Summary of Duties:

  • Upkeep of lawns, tree trimming, landscaping and maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance of all UTTC property. This may include to perform tasks such as pruning trees, cutting shrubs.
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment such as lawn mowers, rakes, trimmers, weed whackers, trimmers and other;
  • Ensures campus is neat and attractive in appearance at all times;
  • Mow, edge, weed trim hedges and other related tasks;
  • Blow and sweep sidewalks, stairs, porches, and parking lots weekly if not daily;
  • Seed and fertilize as needed;
  • Ensures completion of projects in accordance with assignments given by supervisor;
  • Assist with general maintenance as assigned;
  • Assist with snow removal;
  • Assists with changing light bulbs as needed;
  • Requests supplies or materials for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensures availability of items required;
  • Will work a minimum of eight (8) hours during Powwow weekend as needed; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

 

Working Conditions:

Position requires working days, evenings, some weekends and holidays.  Additional hours may be required to complete projects or in emergency situations. Subject to working in hot or cold temperatures.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work independently;
  • Must be able to stand or bend for hours at a time; and
  • Must be competent with grounds keeping tools.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school Diploma or equivalent;
  • Must have a valid ND driver license and be insurable under UTTC’s insurance carrier
