Job Description

The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth has a full-time tenure track faculty position available at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Reading and Literacy Education beginning August 24, 2020. Job duties and responsibilities include teaching, advising, research, and service. Required qualifications include a Doctorate in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited university, completed by the start of contract. Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering diversity across campus.  A record of, or potential for strong research contributions in Reading and Literacy or a related field. At least one year of successful teaching in grades P-12; experience teaching emergent literacy and reading/writing skills; advanced preparation and certification as a reading specialist; background in literacy education, including media and critical literacies; teaching experience at the university level; experience with models of multicultural and multilingual literacies, including strategies for supporting English language learners; experience working with Indigenous peoples and other ethnically and linguistically diverse populations; evidence of ability to integrate social justice issues into the curriculum; experience teaching with technology; experience teaching online courses; interest in P-12 community partnerships; experience supervising students in P-12 school settings; history of successful grant writing.
