The Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth is seeking applicants for a position in Elementary Education to begin August 24, 2020. This is a 9-month tenure-track position at either the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank, for a candidate with an earned doctorate and an emerging or established record of teaching, research, and service appropriate for level of appointment. The department is seeking a colleague with an innovative research agenda who will expand the department’s work in exciting new directions. Job duties and responsibilities include teaching, advising, research, and service. Required qualifications include a Doctorate in Education or a related field from a regionally accredited university, completed by the start of contract. Commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering diversity across campus. A record of, or potential for strong research contributions in elementary education or a related field. Preferred qualifications include at least one year of successful teaching in grades K-8. Additional preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: experience working with and teaching diverse and multilingual populations; knowledge of indigenous pedagogies; experience teaching elementary social studies; experience teaching emergent literacy skills; background in literacy education, including media and critical literacies; teaching experience at the university level; evidence of ability to integrate social justice issues into the curriculum; experience teaching with technology; experience teaching online courses; interest in K-8 community partnerships; experience supervising students in K-8 school settings; history of successful grant writing.
