Fond du Lac Tribal & Community College (FDLTCC) is located in Cloquet, Minnesota. The VISTA member placed at FDLTCC will help develop impactful research experiences for undergraduate tribal college students to prepare them for graduate education and/or successful professional careers. Research experiences will focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) with an emphasis on environmental and natural resource disciplines.
Major functions will include coordinating a student research program, developing a research partnership network, and developing a student recruitment and retention plan to build a strong research program that serves our students and community research needs. The applicant should be self-motivated, possess strong writing and communication skills, and have a passion for increasing STEM capacity. The applicant should also have experience with project planning and the ability to work within diverse communities.
AmeriCorps Volunteers In Service to America (VISTA) is a year-long, full-time service commitment. Members perform capacity building projects and work to develop sustainable systems and processes. As a VISTA member within the American Indian Higher Education Consortium, you will be part of a cohort of members in Tribal organizations across the country working on similar projects. AmeriCorps volunteers do not receive a traditional salary, but receive a living allowance to cover basic costs of living. See Program Benefits below.
