Job Summary
The Director of Engaging Learner Assets and Career Experiences provides strategic leadership for programs that expand equitable access and opportunity for diverse learners. This role builds and sustains pathways that recognize prior learning, support students in earning alternative high school credentials, and create seamless entry points into higher education.
The Director ensures all initiatives align with the college’s mission, vision, values, and goals, and reflect best practices in teaching, learning, and student success. This position oversees Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), the Gateway to College Program, alternative high school diploma initiatives, and related college access programs, ensuring compliance, fostering partnerships, and driving continuous improvement to remove barriers and strengthen belonging for every learner.
Serving as a visible campus and community leader, the Director collaborates with K–12 districts, adult education providers, workforce agencies, and employers to strengthen educational and career pathways. Through innovation, inclusive leadership, and data-informed decision making, the Director promotes academic and career advancement for learners of all backgrounds.
A successful candidate possesses experience in higher education, adult learning, or workforce development and is at ease with the following:

Required Qualifications
• Relevant education and experience demonstrated through one of the following:
o Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and five years of relevant experience in postsecondary or adult education, or alternative educational pathways, or related field.
o Master’s degree from an accredited institution and three years of relevant experience in postsecondary or adult education, or alternative educational pathways, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience in program development, assessment, and evaluation.
• Strong record of building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations and to promote equity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with prior learning assessment processes and alternative credentialing models.
• Knowledge of state and national policies related to adult education and high school equivalency programs.
• Demonstrated success in securing external funding through grants or partnerships.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
• Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
• This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
• The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Starting Salary
Starting salary range for this position is $76,818 to $84,500 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
