Join the team as a Phoenix Center Site Technician!

Tohono O’odham Community College is seeking a Phoenix Center Site Technician to collaborate with the Center Director and ensure the Phoenix Center provides optimal support for students. This is a full-time, non-exempt position where you will play a key role in making the Center an inviting learning space, both physically and virtually, for TOCC students.

Hiring Rate Range: $21.62 - $22.59

What You'll Do

As a Phoenix Center Site Technician, you'll be instrumental in supporting students and strengthening the Center's presence in the Phoenix area. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Advising and assisting with student registration and helping to ensure students have access to financial aid, tutoring, and other services by working closely with Student Support Services. You will maintain frequent communication with students and other interested parties.
  • Outreach and Recruitment: Collaborating with the Director to conduct outreach and recruitment in the Phoenix area. This involves creating and distributing marketing materials for the TOCC website and for emails.
  • Administrative and Operational Duties: You'll ensure the Center runs smoothly , monitor the budget, create requisitions, and place orders. You will also draft letters, memos, contracts, and other documents.
  • Problem-Solving: You will identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, develop alternative solutions, and work well in group problem-solving situations.

We are looking for someone who is consistently on time and has excellent customer service skills. To succeed in this role, you should be:

  • Knowledgeable about curriculum and academic programs.
  • Proficient in using software for reports and communication.
  • Skilled in data compilation and reporting.
  • An excellent writer who can draft letters, memos, and other documents.
  • Able to plan, problem-solve, and make presentations about the Center.
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality and showing attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively relate to students of various backgrounds and communicate with community partners.

     

Required Qualifications

  • An Associate's degree or higher.
  • One year of experience in a higher education setting.
  • A valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • The ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Two to three years of higher education experience.
  • The ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the history and contemporary issues facing Native people.

Work Environment & Schedule

This is a full-time position located at the S-Ki:kig Mascama Ki: Phoenix Center. Typical work hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with a flexible schedule that may require working evenings as needed. The work involves both indoor and outdoor activities and may expose you to temperatures above 100 degrees for more than an hour. The physical demands of the job are considered medium work, with the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
