Job Description

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for (1) assessment of student learning, student outcomes, and student support; (2) data collection, analysis, and interpretation, (3) project management and evaluation; (4) accreditation processes and requirements; (5) strategic planning monitoring; and (6) supporting both academic and non-academic efforts across campus that maintain the institution’s ability to effectively meet the mission, vision, and goals of the institution.

The Director also supervises the department team in developing and maintaining institutional effectiveness across campus.  Additionally, the Director leads efforts to provide relevant education and support of a campus wide holistic data system.

             Major Duties and Responsibilities:           

·        Coordinate departmental planning and assessment processes, working closely with respective supervisors, leadership, and administration that result in continual improvement and the demonstration of effective accomplishment of the mission, vision, and goals of SKC.

·        Provide technical assistance and ongoing faculty development related to assessment of student learning.

·        Design and conduct research studies with particular emphasis on student outcomes to address concerns such as student learning, student success, student satisfaction, retention and persistence, and other student-related issues as requested by the Board of Directors, administration / leadership, faculty, and staff. 

·        Ensure that required tribal, federal, state, and accreditation reporting is completed and submitted in a timely manner through coordination with appropriate campus departments and administration / leadership.

·        Work closely with administration and leadership to support goal setting, decision processes, strategic planning, and project management as appropriate.

·        Lead the Data Team in efforts to create and grow effective and efficient holistic data systems across campus.

·        Lead and support efforts to build campus-wide capacity in relation to data education and data informed action.

·        Fulfill the responsibilities of Accreditation Liaison Officer as defined by Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

·        Lead and/or support the planning and oversight of accreditation processes including required reporting for Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and specialized accrediting bodies.

·        Serve as the central agent for the collection and dissemination of information about institutional and specialized accreditation.

·        Coordinate preparation of annual, interim, substantive change, and self-study reports for NWCCU.

·        Identify and communicate with administration / leadership regarding issues that need attention regarding compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards.

·        Maintain current knowledge in accreditation, outcomes assessment and institutional research by attending conventions, workshops, staff development, and classes relevant to those areas. 

·        Supervise and support the work of the Associate Director of Academic Systems to maintain effective use of academic systems (ie SIS, Course Scheduling, Jenzabar) by the Associate Director and users across campus.

·        Supervise and support the work of the Online Instructional Designer to build and maintain effective instructional design in courses across campus.

·        Supervise and work closely with the department team to complete data collection and analysis, reporting, and data education activities across campus.

·        Provide support in grant writing and evaluation, including providing data, assisting with the development of grant evaluation plans, and acting as an internal grant evaluator.

·        Provide assistance with institutional marketing, including assisting with data and publications, and working with the Department of Institutional Advancement and other SKC entities to ensure institutional integrity in publications and media.

·        Participate in standing and special committees to support institutional effectiveness

·        Other duties related to Institutional Effective as assigned or needed to maintain department and institutional integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

·        Master's degree or doctorate in Education, business, mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university

·        Three or more years of relevant experience in a higher education management/leadership role

·        At least two years of relevant experience in data collection, analysis, and evaluation

·        Experience with student learning outcomes assessment and/or other evaluation processes

·        Ability to collect information, identify relevant facts, and derive logical conclusions

·        Ability to prepare clear, concise, accurate reports and records

·        Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

·        Ability to work independently or as a member of a team as appropriate to work context

·        Effective supervisory, leadership, and organizational skills, including ability to accept accountability for work performance

·        Adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to work under pressure while attending to multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines

·        Experience with applicable technology, including database and spreadsheet systems, preferably Google Suite, Excel, and Jenzabar / JICS
