The University of Oklahoma (OU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Honors College. The successful candidate shall be an inspiring, visionary, and transformational Dean who leads the reimagination of the Honors College and its organizational structure, mechanisms for student engagement, and positioning as a Top 20 Honors College.
The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the college and is responsible for providing visionary leadership to promote excellence, innovation, and student success. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and Provost, the Dean will coordinate with faculty, staff, administrators, and other deans across the university to provide ambitious, academically gifted students with opportunities to develop their intellectual potential in challenging classes, research programs, and a social environment that fosters cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., or a terminal degree, in a relevant discipline, with a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for a tenured appointment at the rank of full professor (preferred) or associate professor (required); demonstrated experience in academic administration, including administration with a high-achieving student population; knowledge of honors education best practices; ability to effectively engage in fundraising and development activities; ability to facilitate change and build cooperative campus-wide networks within a large and complex organization; experience managing budgets, personnel, and strategic initiatives; ability to inspire and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students across a variety of disciplines; commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment; and exceptional collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all constituencies.
