As the gatekeeper for all databases, the Information Specialist grants access rights to association team members and collaborates with staff to develop standardized reporting. The position extends to the coordination of databases, including NativeAmerica.travel and Constant Contact, to facilitate the regular sharing of information. The Information Specialist plays a pivotal role in producing routine tribal tourism reports, highlighting the number of tribes with tourism assets, Native-owned tourism businesses, and providing breakdowns by tribal affiliation, NAICS code, and type. Additionally, the role contributes to monthly agency communications by offering information on new members, AIANTA programs, and other relevant updates. The position is responsible for tracking memberships, payments, and renewals. Collaboration with other departments to compile reports for outreach or special promotions is an integral part of the role, reflecting the position's dynamic and multifaceted responsibilities. Please note that the list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative and not exhaustive, representing the diverse tasks performed by this position. The Information Specialist may be required to perform other tasks as assigned by the Tribal Relations and Outreach Manager or AIANTA’s leadership.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position should have an associate degree in business or computers, information, or data science from an accredited college, along with a minimum of one year of practical experience in data entry and/or data management. Proficiency in computer operations and a comprehensive understanding of various business software, including the Windows environment, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database software systems, are essential. The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of records management and database applications, coupled with the ability to research data sources for accuracy. Prior experience with a Native American tribal organization, the travel and tourism industry, or not-for-profit organizations is preferred. Strong project management skills, outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, and proficiency in research and analysis using web-based and published materials are crucial. The candidate should establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of diverse backgrounds, including co-workers at all levels, and have familiarity with tribal government and nonprofit data sources. A valid driver’s license, passport, or the ability to obtain one is necessary. The ability to work independently and in teams, high motivation, self-starting attitude, and effective multitasking under pressure and tight deadlines are key attributes. Representing the American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association professionally, maintaining confidentiality, effective communication, and knowledge of basic office practices and procedures, including operating business computers and software in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), are expected qualities.

Salary: Salary level depends on experience.  AIANTA offers a robust benefit package.
