As the chief student affairs officer of a comprehensive, multi-location community college, the vice president for student engagement, inclusion and success (VPSEIS) leads and fosters an environment where student development and learning is approached from a lens of holistic and inclusive student support. Reporting to the CEO/president and in partnership with a committed, professional team of administrators, the VPSEIS facilitates collaboration throughout the college community to enhance student access, inclusion, retention, and completion. The VPSEIS is the key individual responsible for developing and implementing both near-term and long-term plans for the student support departments. The position will have close day-to-day interaction with CEO/president’s cabinet colleagues, dean of students, student leadership and development, financial aid, enrollment management, and the student success center. The VPSEIS will provide vision, broad oversight, and leadership for the following services: financial aid, pathways advising, Center for Diversity & Inclusion, disability services, recruitment and enrollment services, student transitions, student counseling, student activities and leadership, and TRIO Student Support Services. The VPSEIS has the responsibility and authority to make decisions related to division strategic initiatives; develop policy, procedures, and practices that support efficiency and quality of programs and services; and work with division staff, vice president for academic affairs, academic deans, administrators and other college constituents to develop and implement initiatives that support and advance student learning and success. The VPSEIS will assess outcomes to evaluate progress and promote continuous improvement and will accomplish this work with logic and ethics, passion and creativity, patience, and a sense of humor. The VPSEIS will provide direct supervision to the following: assistant vice president for student engagement, inclusion and success, dean of students, executive director of financial aid, executive director of enrollment management, and VPSEIS staff executive. The salary range for this position is $130-$145K.

A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in student personnel administration, educational leadership, higher education administration, student development, psychology, or a related field is desired; a doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in student personnel administration, educational leadership, higher education administration, student development, psychology, or related field is preferred. Additional requirements include five years of relevant and progressively responsible administrative experience in student engagement/student development administration or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. The successful candidate must demonstrate understanding and commitment to the community college mission and purpose, teaching and learning, and student success. Further, the successful candidate must demonstrate understanding and experiences addressing practices regarding inclusivity, diversity, and equity; experience with strategic planning; ability to analyze and utilize data for decision-making; and ability to promote a welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty and community members from diverse backgrounds and cultures. The ideal candidate must possess successful experience in resource management, development and budgeting, and experience with federal guidelines including FERPA, Clery Act, ADA, VAWA, Title IX, due process, etc. Knowledge and experience with HLC accreditation requirements and processes, experience working with a multi-location institution or related environment, and community college experience is highly desirable.
