Job Title: Plumbing Apprentice Instructor
Reports to: Apprenticeship Director
Status: Full-time/ Regular/ Exempt
Salary: $57,000 per annual
SUMMARY: The Plumbng Apprentice Instructor works with TOCC apprentices to support them on their path toward Journey Person status and gainful employment in the construction industry. The Instructor teaches apprentices primarily through in-class instruction in a classroom environment and secondarily through supervised On the Job learning experiences. The successful candidate for the position will have extensive experience in the industry, ability to supervise and to teach others, and to maintain excellent records. Instructors will be willing and able to develop good relations with apprentices and community partners on the Tohono O’odham Nation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Teach apprentices and evaluate their performance using the internationally recognized NCCER curriculum.
- Evaluate apprentices’ job performance
- The Instructor will support the T-So:on (Our Core Values) including T-Wohocudadag Our Beliefs, T-Apedag Our Well-Being, T-Pi:k Elida Our Deepest Respect and I-We:mta Working Together.
- Oversee maintenance of program facilities, machinery, tools, and equipment
- Track student attendance and progress
- Attend Apprentice Support Committee meetings as directed
Requirements
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Journey Person level in Plumbing
- High School graduate
- Four years of experience as a Plumber
- A diploma from an acceptance secondary or post-secondary institution
- Additional Consideration May Be Given to Individuals with the Following Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Plumbing or construction
- Ability to speak and understand O’odham
- Knowledge and understanding of the history and contemporary issues facing Native peoples
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Arizona Driver’s license with no DUIs or significant traffic offenses within the past two years.
- Must successfully pass a background check and fingerprint clearance.
- Licenses may be required depending on the area of assignment
KNOWLEDGE:
- Principles of project estimating;
- Jobsite safety and injury prevention;
- Standards of business ethics;
- Principles of crew leadership.

- Using a computer and related software applications;
