Job Description

Montana State University -Northern seeks an Assistant Professor of History/Social Sciences, tenure track to join their College of Arts, Sciences & Education in Fall 2022.

The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses in history, political science, and sociology to support general education, Liberal Studies, and the Secondary Education Broadfield Social Science major; advise students effectively; continue the pursuit of scholarly achievement; provide service to the institution and regional communities; and participate as a cooperative team member for MSU-Northern.

We are seeking an innovative faculty member who is eager to participate in curricular and programmatic development. Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to building a diverse community through their teaching, scholarship and service. 

Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position and MSU-Northern.

Annual salary commensurate with credentials and experience and within the guidelines set by the collective bargaining agreement.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
· Ph.D. in History or related social science area from an accredited institution at time of appointment.
· Experience working with a diverse student population.
· Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
· Experience teaching in social sciences at the collegiate level.
· Emphasis in Native American Studies.
· Experience as an effective advisor in higher education.
· Demonstrated use of a variety of instructional technologies.
· Experience with curricular development, programmatic development, and/or institutional assessment.
