POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Wellness COVID Coordinator  

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Interim President

WORK HOURS: M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

STATUS: Non-exempt

 LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  Valid MN Driver’s License, current insurance or be insurable.

                       

SUMMARY:

 

This position is funded by the COVID-19 Cares Act funding, with continuation dependent on available funding.  All duties will be focused toward the preparation and safety management of all students and staff. 

 

The Wellness COVID Coordinator will be the key resource and central point of contact for all matters concerning COVID-19 for the LLTC campus community. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for implementing all applicable procedures adopted by LLTC in response to the pandemic.

 

Also, the Coordinator is in charge of maintaining workplace safety by limiting potential environmental hazard risks to students, employees, and visitors.  The main task is to ensure the LLTC follows safety standards and government regulation, including designing and implementing safety processes and procedures and maintaining documentation and records.

  

EDUCATION:

 

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, environmental health, occupational safety, public health or health-related field, or social work.

 

Associates degree and three years of relevant experience sufficient enough to understand the major duties of the position. 

 

OSHA or other Safety certification.

 

Strong administrative and organizational skills

 

Excellent interpersonal skills.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing the implementation of a daily attendance log of all employees, students, and visitors. Monitor that all employees, students, and staff act according to rules and regulations. 
  • Periodically review the effectiveness of the COVID-19 policy and procedures, and amend, update or improve as necessary. Oversee the revisions and implementation of new procedures relating to the LLTC’s COVID-19 plan to the campus community.
  • Post a hygienic practice and physical distancing recommendations in areas visible to all employees, students, and visitors.
  • Ensure LLTC complies with all Federal, LLBO tribal health, Minnesota State, and local restrictions.
  • Act as the contact point for the LLTC campus community and vendors for any COVID related questions and the actions taken for COVID safety.
  • Act as the contact point for information where to get tested for COVID-19, and how and where vaccines are available.
  • Communicating with employees regarding taking COVID related leave and returning to work such as; how employees should provide notice to the Wellness COVID Coordinator and their immediate supervisor when leave is needed. The Coordinator will provide information to employees regarding quarantining and returning to work, and what to do if an employee has a sick family or household member at home with COVID-19.
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

knowledge, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Documented grant management and/or administrative experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Strong public speaking skills with the ability to speak in front of large and small groups.
  • Self-directed and able to complete tasks with little direction, and exercise discretion and mature judgment and manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Computer and technical skills especially those related to data entry and reporting (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience that indicates the ability to interact effectively with leaders among Indian communities, government agencies, scientific and academic communities, medical and health-related organizations, non-governmental groups and the public at large is required.
  • Must have a solid combination of training, knowledge, and experience in health program/project management/implementation/ marketing, public relations, and grants management.
  • Ability to manage a variety of activities/projects such as maintaining the web page on health and wellness, and create and/or oversee the creation of promotional/marketing materials including, but not limited to, brochures, flyers and newsletters.
  • Handle crisis and tolerate stress professionally.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.

Must have experience in community engagement, marketing and public relations and must be able to perform in a high stress environment.

Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and criminal background checks.

Leech Lake Tribal College adheres to Native American Preference laws.

Covid-19 vaccination or an approved medical or religious exemption is required for employment with the Leech Lake Tribal College.  Applicants who are not vaccinated at the time of offer acceptance can ask for instructions on where to go to obtain vaccination or on how to request a COVID test.  Newly hired employees must be fully vaccinated (that is, at least two weeks past their final doses of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen) and provide proof, or have an approved medical or religious exemption, on or before their start date.
