This position requires an energetic, highly motivated, thoughtful, and bright team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a student-centric approach to their work. Since this position is a key leadership role for supporting the university goals for integrating the academic, residential, and social experience of students, priority will be given to candidates with previous experience working within a liberal arts, residential college setting and/or previous experience with partnerships between student affairs and academic affairs. A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential, as this position leads the development of an inclusive, intellectual, residential community. 
Responsibilities include overseeing the management of one of our residential neighborhoods with oversight of 300-700 students; supervising an administrative assistant, graduate assistant (in some neighborhoods), and residential student staff; maintaining daily student contact; developing student leadership opportunities; co-chairing the neighborhood association with a faculty member; developing community programs; serving as a student conduct hearing officer; and serving in leadership capacities for departmental efforts. This is a fulltime, 12 month,  live-in position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for total administration of residential communities within one’s area of supervision.
  • Recruit, select, train, supervise and evaluate student staff and a part-time program assistant
  • Develop student leadership opportunities and work to enhance area community.
  • Promote staff teamwork and coordinate staff duty / neighborhood coverage.
  • Support the development of residential Learning Communities.
  • Maintain daily student contact within residential area.
  • Create strong partnerships within the Student Life division and with other department’s on-campus, including: faculty, security/campus police, dining services, academic support services, physical plant, and administrative offices.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding occupancy, room changes, maintenance requests, damage billing, laundry repair, etc.
  • Provide appropriate referrals for students regarding academic, social, and psychological issues.
  • Serve as a conduct hearing officer and support the divisional protocol regarding the student code of conduct.
  • Serve in one or more capacities in support of the department and under departmental leadership.

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree and residence life experience post undergraduate degree required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience developing and implementing student life and academic affairs partnerships in a residential liberal arts environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to diversity and inclusion, intercultural competence, and global citizenship.
