Job Description:

 The Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College invites applications for two assistant professor positions beginning in August of 2022. For each position, the preferred candidate will be a communication generalist with a broad and deep knowledge of communication studies. Additionally, for each position, the preferred candidate will have a specialization in one or more of the following areas: corporate communication and/or organizational communication; interpersonal and group communication; intercultural and international communication; rhetoric and public advocacy; and digital communication and culture. All research methodology expertise is welcomed with a particular emphasis on quantitative research methods as a bonus. Finally, for each position, the preferred candidate will have the ability to direct thesis and capstone projects in the department’s Master’s program in Corporate Communication, and to enhance the department’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Baruch College, located in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is a senior college in the City University of New York, with roughly 15,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students enrolled in three schools: the Lawrence Zicklin School of Business; the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences; and the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. The Department of Communication Studies, located in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, offers several basic communication courses (at least one of which is required of almost all undergraduates in the College), as well as two undergraduate majors: one in Corporate Communication, which is the third largest major in the college; and one in Communication Studies, which is currently the fastest growing major in the college. The Department also offers an undergraduate minor in Communication Studies, which is the largest minor in the College, with an enrollment of over one-thousand students. In addition to its undergraduate offerings, the Department also offers a master’s degree in Corporate Communication, with an enrollment of approximately sixty students.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
