Position: Liberal Arts Faculty                                               FLSA Status:  Salary

Reports To:     V.P. of Teaching and Learning                          Work Schedule:  M-F 8:30-5:00 with class schedule

Rate of Pay:  Depends on experience, $55,000-$60,000/year

 

 

Purpose of Position: 

 Little Priest Tribal College is currently accepting applications for full-time Liberal Arts faculty in the department of Academic Affairs beginning spring 2022.

 

 The full-time faculty position is a six-month contract appointment beginning spring 2022 through summer 2022, renewable for one-year upon the availability of funds. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching American Government, American History, Issues of Unity and Diversity, Psychology, Sociology and other related courses. The faculty member is also responsible for advising students enrolled in the liberal arts program. All faculty members are responsible for completing course assessments at the end of the semester. The faculty member will be assigned to different committees as required by the department of Academic Affairs

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a Liberal Arts field relative to the courses to be taught with at least 18 graduate credit hours, or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Will need to qualify for Nebraska Teaching Certificate for dual-credit courses.
  • Experience working in tribal organizations, in Native American communities, for a Tribal College or University; and/or knowledge of Native American Studies curriculum.
  • At least 1-year experience teaching, preferably at a tribal/community college.

 

Responsibilities:

 

At a minimum, the essential functions of the instructor are:

  • Teach 15-16 credit hours,
  • Advise students,
  • Maintain student records with respect to FERPA,
  • Serve on the Howera Committee (Curriculum),
  • Maintain office hours totaling ten (10) hours per week,
  • Work with necessary personnel within the organization to assist students in their learning, retention, and matriculation
  • Other duties as assigned.
