Director, Human Resources
Department: Human Resources Office
Provide strategic leadership, planning and administration of human resources programs and services including recruitment and
employment, performance excellence, total rewards (compensation, benefits), professional development, employee relations, policy
development and compliance, and organizational development. Work closely with the Title IX (VII) Coordinator and the three
Diversity/Equity/Inclusion leaders to addresses any discrimination and harassment complaints and institutional practices to advance
the college's antiracist plan and promote a diverse and inclusive community.
Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development/Administration, or other
related field of study plus seven years’ experience in a senior leadership Human Resources management role. Requires specialized experience in at least five of the following areas: Organizational Development, Employee Relations, Compensation, Job
Classification, Professional Development, Recruitment, Policy Development and Implementation, Benefits, Employment, HRIS,
Equal Employment and Affirmative Action, Investigation, and Conflict Resolution and Mediation. Demonstrated experiencing
promoting and supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The position requires a minimum of seven years supervising and managing staff. Additional requirements include outstanding
leadership and management skills; seasoned experience in exercising independent decision-making; proven skills to plan, develop,
organize, and direct human resource programs; and develop and manage budget. Possess broad experience in effective analysis and
judgment in the review and interpretation of policies, procedures, and practices; and sound knowledge of relevant government
regulations. Possess strong interpersonal and problem solving skills with a proven record of developing and maintaining effective
working relationships with a wide diversity of employee constituents, and experience that demonstrates commitment to valuing and
respecting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience leading performance improvement, creating improvement plans and
consultations. Experience related to mediating conflict, handling problems related to performance and building strong working
relationships is critical. Experience working with automated management information systems and high-level proficiency in MS
Word, Excel and Power Point. Other important qualifications include strong oral and written communication skills, ability to manage
confidential matters with tact and diplomacy, ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines; flexible; self-directed and goal
oriented; possessing a positive attitude, and skills to promote a team-oriented environment.
A Master’s degree in related field; SPHR certification; knowledge of values based leadership principles and skills, previous
experience managing change efforts and large projects; HR management experience in a higher education environment; experience
working with enterprise database systems.
