Job Description

Job Title:            Accounts Payable Technician

Reports To:        Dean of Finance

Status:                Full-time/ Regular/ Non-exempt

Salary:                $19.00  an hour


SUMMARY: This position is responsible for accounts payable work under the supervision of the Dean of Finance. Will handle many aspects around accounts receivable and payable, invoices, purchasing and various monthly reconciliations.   • Receives and processes a variety of payments, invoices, fees, purchase orders, and other related information, which may include: obtaining approvals, preparing billings, calculating and processing fees, recording payments, filing and posting checks, and performing other related duties;
  • Reconciles, balances, updates, and maintains accounts payable, accounts receivable, and/or related accounts; Prepares journal entries;
  • Maintain vendor databases and ensures accurate and compliant processing.; maintains related databases;
  • Performs duties related to specialized system maintenance and account management; may assist with system and account audits as necessary;
  • Processes Financial Aid disbursements;
  • Process 1099 forms at year end;
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.



Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in accounting, finance, or related field; and/or two to three years of general accounting experience.


Additional Consideration May Be Given To Individuals with the Following Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak and understand O’odham and/or Spanish.
  • Knowledge and understanding in the history and contemporary issues facing Native peoples.



  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license with no DUI's or major traffic offenses within the past year.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
