The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SNHS) at the University of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell) invites applications for a full-time (100% FTE), 9 month, non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position. This position will be appointed for a 3-year term, and is eligible for renewal. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, scholarship, and service, although the role of Assistant Teaching Professor consists primarily of teaching and service. We have a promotional track for teaching professors (Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, and Teaching Professor).
Our interdisciplinary school provides all SNHS faculty with the opportunity to engage in creative and innovative approaches to health-related courses and scholarship. Our academic programs are poised for exciting new directions in the coming years. SNHS offers the following degrees: 1) a RN-BSN degree, 2) a Masters of Nursing (MN) emphasizing education, leadership, and community/global health, and 3) a BA degree in Health Studies emphasizing community/public health and social justice. Additionally, we have recently started a Behavioral Health Training Program that serves working professionals. All faculty are expected to contribute across our programs and synergize with the department's substantive foci in behavioral health; community health education and promotion; nursing education; program management and/or leadership in clinical or community health settings; global health; chronic disease; social determinants of health; and epidemiology. This position will involve teaching and service in the Behavioral Health Training Program. Faculty in this program apply expertise from a range of behavioral health fields, such as psychology, social work, psychiatric mental health nursing, counseling, public health case work, educational or clinical administration, and/or substance abuse treatment. Successful candidates will be expected to engage with:
1) diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching, scholarship, and/or service
2) transformational learning, innovative pedagogy and engaged scholarship in an inclusive and interdisciplinary culture of learning
3) pedagogical approaches for teaching in classroom-based, hybrid and online settings
4) community connections and outreach efforts within a behavioral, clinical, or public health context

We are seeking candidates with a substantive professional focus on behavioral health who have had a minimum of 1 years of practical experience providing behavioral health services. This position requires, at minimum, a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in a field related to behavioral health. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, a doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in a field related to behavioral health.
Additionally, candidates should at minimum be able to teach one of the following behavioral health course content: 1) Fundamentals of Behavioral Health, 2) Mental Health, Mental Illness, and Substance Used Disorders, 3) Patient Communication, Partnership, and Motivational Interviewing, and 4) Population Health in Primary Care.
