Position: Comm. Ed/Distance Learning                         FLSA Status: Hourly   

                                               

Reports To: Vice President of Teaching & Learning      Work Schedule: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with some weekend/evening hours as needed 

Rate of Pay: Based on experience/education                   

 

Position Summary:

Develop, organize, and otherwise carryout and facilitate community education activities and provide testing to students seeking GEDs (General Education Diploma’s). Collaborate with college administration and faculty as well as various community entities to provide high quality educational workshops and conferences to community members, tribal programs, and college staff and faculty.  Serve as a member of the Admissions team and assist with recruitment contacts, visit and inform perspective students about Little Priest Tribal College programs and admission process.  Work with faculty and staff to promote distance education, alternative distance learning delivery methods, and provide student and faculty assistance in the areas of instructional design/technology.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with college staff and faculty as well as tribal and other programs to develop a priority list and calendar for workshops and conferences toward the provision of regular educational opportunities ranging from cultural to scientific.
  • Organize and provide logistical support to ensure that workshops and conferences run smoothly.
  • Evaluate community education events and summarize results of evaluation surveys.
  • Provide CEUs (Continuing Education Credits) for qualifying workshops and conferences. Coordinate with
  • Registrar to establish and maintain continuing education unit (CEU) files as required for CEU accreditation.
  • Become a certified proctor for GED testing.
  • Develops and implements specific recruitment projects as assigned.
  • Completes routine reports related to recruitment, projections, schedule, travel and recruitment expenses.
  • Maintains communication via email, traditional mail, social media, and phone calls with prospective students and applied student in order to complete the admissions process.
  • Supports instructional design for distance learning courses.
  • Manage budget, including keeping of cuff account.
  • Provide progress reports to LPTC administration and other collaborative agencies as needed
  • Serve on one college committee.
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

 

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn other College programs.
  • Knowledgeable of how to apply to college.

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Ability to effectively discuss issues, listen, and negotiate with others.
  • Ability to lead, make effective decisions, collaborate, and coordinate with others in a positive, productive and professional manner.
  • Ability to manage limited organizational resources and budgets.
  • Ability to manage projects from the conceptual stage through completion.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision is required.
  • Ability to operate computers, office management and Student information software is required.
  • Ability to drive College vehicle

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of an Associates’ degree. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Ability to work with diverse constituencies, experience in Native American communities preferred. High energy, detail oriented, comfortable with establishing relationships and speaking in public. Must be a team player who can coordinate and collaborate with staff and faculty in order to achieve goals. Must be able to qualify for Pearson VUE certified test proctor. Must be able to work well in a one-on-one situation with students needing assistance with applying for admission. Have a good level of working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word). Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
