Job Description

Position Title: Part Time Administrative Assistant

Department: Land Grant

Reports Directly To:  Land Grant Director

Status: Non-Exempt – Part Time -29 hours per week

Salary: DOE

 Summary of Duties:

  • Prepare purchase requisitions and track expenses against department grants
  • Manage and maintain educational materials, reports, correspondence, resource materials, supplies and basic office equipment (printer, fax, copier, etc.).
  • Maintain offices, teaching labs, classroom facilities (schedule cleaning and repair).
  • Maintain department calendar, update website, and coordinate meetings, conferences, and workshops as needed.
  • Prepare periodic newsletters and updates on department activities for campus community and partners.
  • Pick up, sort and distribute mail for department.
  • Set up and maintain a booth during events.
  • Pick up supplies/groceries at Bismarck stores for department activities.
  • Gardening when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned may include assisting in preparing/maintain outdoor teaching plots and centers.

 Supervisory Responsibilities:


 Working Conditions:

General office conditions.  Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. and up to 29 hours per week. Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and evenings.

 Physical Demands:

Must be able to go up and down stairs. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.  Must be able to sit and stand for long periods.  When gardening: crouching and kneeling is required.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with no work related experience, or high school diploma or GED with three (3) years’ work related experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

 Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with MS Office Applications.
  • People skills, friendly and caring, active listener, able to work with diverse people (ages, culture, economic backgrounds, and education backgrounds).
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to anticipate needs, multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.
