The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking a Dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and reports to the Provost. The Dean leads the College in building and supporting strong degrees across all areas of LAS, championing the values of liberal education, delivering a high-quality curriculum, and promoting excellence in research and creative work. The Dean develops and promotes strategic plans for the College, works with the department chairs and program directors in advancing the broad interests of the College, and guides the College’s fundraising and development efforts. The Dean must work collegially with fellow members of the Deans' Council and with other senior university administrators, as well as with alumni and members of the community, to advance the academic mission of the College and University. The Dean of LAS will prioritize building solid, professional, and effective relationships with the College, faculty, staff, and students. To this end, the Dean will actively engage individual stakeholders and constituent groups to understand what is important within the College. As UCCS has recently been designated a Carnegie R2 university, the new Dean must have a strong vision and be able to lead transformation at this time of change at the University. The Dean will focus on innovative, cross-disciplinary programming to be promoted across the campus while nurturing existing academic programs. Minimum requirements include a terminal degree in a field represented within the College, a rank of Full Professor by virtue of an outstanding record in both research and teaching, demonstrated academic leadership and a history of obtaining and managing finances. The Dean will be a proven leader in education and research with an established record in supporting and building positive relationships with faculty and administration. They will also be a proven leader in promoting research and creative works, and in advocating for high quality graduate and undergraduate education. The Dean will be a transparent communicator and will have demonstrated the ability to manage a large budget, develop successful policies, and efficiently promote the values and initiatives of LAS to leadership and the outside community. The University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking an Assistant Vice Chancellor, Chief Human Resources Officer (AVC, CHRO). This position will strategically lead personnel planning and administration for staff and faculty on the campus, innovatively develop and manage his/her human resources team, and assertively act as the principal representative of the Chancellor to the CU system human resources office and committees. The AVC, CHRO is responsible for the overall management of the Department of Human Resources that includes HR services, compensation, compliance, training, recruiting, and affirmative action.  S/he engages the campus academic and administrative leadership regarding human resources programs and issues and provides initial consultation to campus on HR services available through CU system Employee Services. This position also provides guidance and advice to the student employment department. Duties and responsibilities include providing leadership in the development, implementation, and ongoing execution of sound human resources and management practices, policies, initiatives, and actions. S/he will lead development and execution of policy and programmatic direction for the campus human resources functions. The AVC, CHRO will also provide day-to-day Office of Human Resources operations management, including monitoring staffing patterns, workloads, initiatives and office priorities. The right candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in human resources management, organizational management, public administration, business or related field. S/he will also have ten years of progress professional Human Resources experience and five years of experience in a leadership and supervisory capacity. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree from an accredited institution, experience working with federal and/or state personnel systems and experience in a senior management position in HR in a higher education environment. The Dean will be the chief academic and administrative officer for the College and reports to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Working closely with the management team and collaboratively with the faculty of the College, the Dean’s primary responsibilities include building and maintaining the quality of business programs, building and supporting faculty teaching and scholarship, managing the AACSB accreditation, strengthening relationships with the business community, and fundraising. The Dean must work collegially with fellow members of the Deans’ Council and other senior university administrators to advance the mission of the University. An open, collaborative leader with a keen desire to work closely with faculty and staff, the Dean is responsible for the College’s development activities. They will develop community, industry, and government partnerships that support College programs and provide external resource enhancement. The Dean provides effective management and execution of fiscal policies and procedures and will establish policies and procedures for shared College governance and collegial decision making. Essential qualifications include leadership experience in business higher education, for profit and/or nonprofit arena. A terminal degree in one of the disciplines housed in the College and a record sufficient to merit appointment as a tenured full professor or a related degree with significant experience in leading a College of Business is required. Successful administrative experience at an AACSB-accredited college at the level of academic department head, assistant dean, or dean, or other comparable administrative experience appropriate for the College is required.
